Virus Removal

Before we get into the virus removal lets answer this question - What is malware, viruses, trojan horses, worms and spyware?

Malware is a computer virus, it is a type of software that is written with malicious intent in mind. Malware (malicious software) includes viruses, worms, trojan horses and spyware to name a few. When executed on your computer they can cause havoc on your computer by infecting the operating system, programs, and data (including documents, pictures, music...). Malware can also infect the computers hard drives boot sector, delete your files and critical operating system (i.e. Windows 7 or Windows 10) files and directories. They can also gather information about you such as web browsing habits, personal information such as address, phone numbers, contact's email addresses, banking information, and credit card numbers.

How will you know if your computer is infected with malware (virus, rootkit, spyware, worm...)? Most malware tries to stay hidden, so you may not be able to tell but some of the more common symptoms include:

• Computer may be slow starting or may not start at all.
• Computer may be plagued with errors, lock-ups, blue screen of death (BSOD) or pop-ups.
• Data may be missing or not accessible.
• Unusual icons appear on your desktop or in the notification area of the taskbar.
• Programs won't run or crash frequently.
• Web browser doesn’t open the intended site, home page changed, opens new tabs, or new toolbars and shortcuts.

Keep in mind that these are only a few of the issues that may occur. It is better to be overly cautious than extremely sorry.
